Your opinions on Big League Dreams audit
What do you think? Should this be a wake up call to most of the elected and employed officials in our town? What do you think of those that failed to inform or keep up with this project? Do you think the city was pressured into a decision? Or were the “stars in line” for this project. What do you think about the statement by former mayor Harrison when he said “Take a look at that intersection at Interstate 45 and FM 646,” he said. “I think Big League Dreams has a part in that area growing” in the Galveston County Daily News today ?

Jeff is delusional. Walmart, HEB, etc. did not base their decision to build at 646/45 because of BLD. I think it has more to do with all the homes that Mayor Jeff allowed the developers to build.
My friend owns the Subway at 646. BLD had nothing to do with his decision to expand his franchise out there.
From what I understand, (correct me if I'm wrong) projections have L.C. starting to profit at about 20 yrs. Mr. Harrison's "investment" is a failure. 'Nuff Said
So Mayor Jeff allowed all those homes? Gee...I thought our city was governed by a zoning ordinance - not to mention a little thing called the real estate market.
Of course BLD had nothing to do with Wal-Mart or HEB. A few restaurants may see a small uptick in business, but other than that I don't expect much economic benefit. Overall, I would say we made a bad deal in BLD, but we also expect our elected officials to promote economic development and that was a project that was knocking on the door. It's a close call, in my opinion, but BLD is probably the sort of project that ought to have been left to the private sector. Now, on to the audit of BLM.
