I'm not at all worried. President Bush says he is going to dispatch 6,000 National Guard troops to the border, on two week shifts to protect the safety and security of Americans. He is going to pay for that deployment by shifting millions from money already allocated to pay for Border Patrol equipment - that was supposed to be used to help improve border security. But never mind, Mr. Bush says he was chosen by God to be president and is doing God's will. We can all rest easy now.
I wish it weren't true... The Senate just passed "Am-nasty" bill S2611 with a vote 62-36. Here is part of what Chris Simcox, President of the Minutemen Civil Defense Corp. released:
"The vote to give amnesty to millions of illegal aliens by the United States Senate today, should it pass into law, would ensure that the status quo is maintained: the borders would remain wide open and the attractive nuisance of endless welfare and social programs at the expense of the American taxpayer would remain. Those climbing over the backs of those waiting patiently to abide by our laws; and instead breaking the law, illegally entering this country, and committing document fraud; those not paying taxes; and those hiring illegally would be granted full amnesty. American citizens would, of course, still be subject to prosecution for document fraud and tax evasion. This sends the message that if you play by the rules, you suffer; if you enter the United States illegally, you are not subject to the rule of law."
Also:
"The existing border crisis is a dereliction of duty by those entrusted with this nation’s security, sovereignty and prosperity. The U.S. Senate just left America vulnerable to a tsunami of migrants at the border, to terrorist infiltration and to an unprecedented crime wave by drug smugglers, thieves, rapists, human traffickers and murderers who cross our frontier at will—and whose bravado and aggression will now increase with the Senate’s message of our apparent national weakness."
More on this can be found on The Minuteman National Blog website.
Could this be the beginning of the 'American Union'? It is NOT working in Europe. According to several articles read, England was brought in the same way, without citizen approval, and the citizens sure don't like it. I voted twice for President Bush (No way ever would I have voted for Kerry) and wonder what any of our President's have done to protect our borders, land, sea or air from invaders, since the 1986 Amnesty. Isn't this the primary responsibility of the Executive Branch??? What's happening in the U.S.A.???
Thank goodness for the Minutemen, Protect Our Borders, Build a Fence, etc... All the Great U.S. Citizens that "Do what our U.S. Government won't do"!!!
Sorry, just very disenchanted with the Senate and Executive Branch...
DG - I think the immigration controversy reflects the fact that the country has very legitimate differences of opinion. We are pretty evenly split, with plenty of truth on each side. I find myself on both sides of the argument, understanding that we cannot continue to allow open illegal immigration, nor can we realistically deport 11 million people. Nor would we like the economic impact (much as I think it should happen) of paying a living wage for the work that illegal immigrants now do for us. I think the result will be, at least short term, that nothing will get out of the conference committee and that the issue will continue to linger well after the November election.
I'm sure this is staged, but it sure is funny...
Crossing the Border
Which part is staged? The part where George Bush acts like he is actually familiar with the subject?
You always make me laugh...
President Bush familiar with immigration... Now that is funny!
LOL! Thanks again, LCTexan
DG - thanks. I'm thinking of taking my act on the road. At least, I think that what that guy meant when he told me to "hit the road."
I saw a great bumper sticker yesterday, has that big W inside the circle, but crossed out, says "wake me when it is over" Gotta get one of those.
Saw another bumper sticker couple days ago...
'Make a Statement, Send a Senator a Tea Bag'.
You now, LC Texan... after the invocation at Council meetings, maybe a short variety show to get the meeting started on the 'correct' (PC you know) path???
You have educated me. Our city council meetings actually begin with an invocation? Our secular leaders need to publicly pray? Don't we have churches for that?
But wait - aren't they the elected representatives of ALL of the community? Christians, Jews, pagans, non-believers? Certainly each of those groups exist in LC.
